HOW IT WORKS

How do I buy a postcard?

  • The only way to guarantee you get a postcard is to buy a Postcard Voucher online. Each voucher costs £40. The cards are sold on a first come, first served basis. If there are any Vouchers left by the day of the exhibition, you will also be able to buy them there. UPDATE: Unfortunately the Postcard Vouchers have all sold out now.

When is the event?

  • The Secret Charter exhibition will be at The Dulwich Picture Gallery (our venue partner) from 12.00 - 9.00 PM on Monday the 15th October. Viewing will take place all day and we invite you to join us from 6pm for an evening reception hosted by actor James Nesbitt. If you’ve bought a Postcard Voucher, this is the day you’ll find out which your allocated artwork is.

  • All are welcome - you don’t have to buy a postcard to get in. Entrance to the exhibition is only £5 and also gives you access to a large part of Dulwich Picture Gallery’s magnificent Permanent Collection.

Can I choose the postcard I want?

  • Nobody can choose their postcard - the 559 postcards go into a ‘lucky dip’. Each Postcard Voucher guarantees you the chance to win anything from a very valuable work of art by a world famous artist to something beautiful by an (as yet) unknown art student. As well as getting a unique piece of artwork you are generously supporting the Arts at the Charter School North. The postcards will be randomly allocated to the Postcard Voucher order numbers using RandomDraws.com. UPDATE: The postcards have now been randomly allocated to the order numbers, click here to see the RandomDraws certificate.

Can I take my postcard home after the event?

  • Given the large volume of postcards and the amount of interest in the exhibition, the postcards will not be available to take home on the day of the event. Local collection will be available the following day, Tuesday 16th October, between 6 and 8pm from the Charter School North, Red Post Hill, Herne Hill, London SE24 9JH. If you’d prefer not to collect in person we ask that you add postal delivery when you buy your voucher online and we will post your card out to you.

When do I find out which postcard I’ve won?

  • People coming to the event at the Dulwich Picture Gallery on Monday 15th October will find out then. The list of artist names matched with the winning online Order Numbers will be published on the website on the same day.

Can I buy a card without attending the event?

  • Yes. When you purchase your Postcard Voucher online you will be given the option to get your postcard delivered by post or by local collection.

Could I get a postcard by a famous artist or celebrity?

  • There's a pretty good chance that you will. We've been overwhelmed by the support we've received from eminent local and internationally acclaimed artists. Julian Opie, Tracey Emin, Ralph Steadman, Maggi Hambling, Robert Crumb, Jock McFadyen and Anthony Gormley are just a few of the big names who have donated artworks. They are joined by high-profile figures such as Hugh Grant, Jeremy Corbyn, James Corden, Brenda Blethyn, Jo Brand, Jeremy Corbyn, Harriet Harman and many more. Are there any other ways to get an artwork?

  • Alongside our main £40 'Lucky Dip' postcard sale we are lucky enough to be able to run a separate, smaller Online Auction where a selection of beautiful artworks by named artists will be available to bid on. These consist of framed, fragile and larger-than-postcard-sized works, and pieces artists have specially donated to the auction to help us raise as much as possible for the Arts at the Charter School North. Visit the Auction page to find out more. The auction will begin at 8.30pm, Wednesday 26th September 2108 and will run for three weeks ending on Wednesday 17th October at 9.30pm.

    Many of the artists in the Online Auction have also donated postcards to our main £40 'lucky dip' postcard sale.
